The History of Illustration - Kathleen Hale

for this task i decided to choose Kathleen Hale.
Kathleen Hale was a children illustrator from 1898 -2000, she is best known for her books about Orlando the marmalade cat. her art is mostly done in pencil ink and watercolor sometimes adding crayon.

i absolutely adore the above picture i think the below segment with the ziggy whiskers and the smiling cat face is so cute.

hales art is bold and her compositions are interesting the second combines a lot of different shapes but is semi monochrome using only yellow as a contrast.

i think the art of hale does well even in the modern age, it does not seem to me to be dated as such as a whole i would say it is pretty timeless!
